Joyce Ann Hardin Mann, 83, Elizabethton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, Thursday, August 4, 2022 at her residence. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Paul & Margaret Carr Hardin. Joyce was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and held a BS Degree from East Tennessee State University. She was a retired School Teacher after 30 years of service, having taught at Midway and Hunter Elementary School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Mann who passed away July 15, 2021 and a brother-in-law: Jimmy Mann. Joyce loved to travel and loved to work with little kids. She was a member of Hunter Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include Two Daughters: Paula (Donnie) Hall and Kimberly (Carl) Miller. Two Grandchildren: Chelsea Maupin and Abby (Andrew) Martin. Three Great Grandchildren: Gracie Maupin, Carly Jo Maupin and Kenna Kyte. A sister by heart: Kathy Morton. A special friend: Trudy Ornduff. Several nieces and nephews. A Brother & Sister-In-Law: Jerry & Velma Mann, A Sister-in-law: Jeanette Mann. Her Four legged special companion: Whiskers.
Graveside Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2022 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, Minister officiating. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be her neighbors, former students and her long time friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank you” to the Staff of Amedisys Hospice, expecially, Megan Renfro and Sarah Steele. Also to her care givers, Nancy Steele, B.J. Creech and Rachel Furbert for their love and special care given to Joyce during her illness. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Joyce to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959. Friends may register their presence at the funeral home Saturday until 1 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 to go in procession to the cemetery.
