Julia Ruth Presnell, 83, of Elizabethton, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2014, at Pine Ridge Health Center following an extended illness.
She was born in Dobson, N.C., a daughter of the late Emmitt and Lula Wagner Golden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Presnell; son, Edward “Bud” Presnell; sister, Nancy Nixon; brothers, Garvey and Tommy Golden; and a special grandson, Eric Todd Presnell.
Mrs. Presnell enjoyed cooking, crocheting and singing at rest homes. She was a member of Prayer Tabernacle.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Ann Gillespie of Elizabethton, Patty G. Barringer of Salisbury, N.C., and Judy L. Greene of Elizabethton; a special grandson, Holland Rhyne Beebe; nine other grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Chris Mathes and Taz Erwin.
The family requests the comfort and honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring Julia Ruth Presnell on Saturday, January 4, at 6 p.m. in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with the Rev. Bryan Smith officiating. Music will be under the direction of Marla Rauch. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Sunday, January 5, at 1 p.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Sunday.
