    Kenneth Eugene “Hawkeye” Humphrey, 80, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from the Johnson City medical Center.  Kenneth was born, January24, 1939 to the late Williams Frances & Rosa Reece Humphrey.  He was a graduate of Elizabethton High School, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame for baseball and was Captain of the Basketball Team.  He was retired from the Elizabethton Water Department after 40 years of service.  He was a member of the First Christian Church.  Kenneth enjoyed basketball, baseball, visiting with family and friends, working in his flowers garden. He was an Avid UT Family, and NASCAR. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years: Linda Matherly Humphrey, one brother: Bill Humphrey, three sisters: Nora Lou Estep, Ruth Baker and Edna Collins, two nephews: David Humphrey and Johnny Baker and one niece: Bobby Lynn Matherly.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter: Lisa Humphrey, Elizabethton, a granddaughter: Alisha Sexton of the home, grandson: Joey (Kelly) Sexton of Todd, NC. One great grandson: Joseph Sexton, Todd NC, one on the way in 2020.  Two sisters: Mary Bryant, Marsha (Bob) Dorsey, Elizabethton.  Several nieces & nephews.

A service to honor the life of Kenneth Eugene Humphrey will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2019 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. John H. Smith, Minister officiating.  Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park.  Music will be provided by Mr. Gene Estep.  Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Kenneth to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, Tn. 38101-9908 or the Carter County Rescue Squad, PO Box 776, Elizabethton, Tn. 37644.  The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to members of the Carter County Rescue Squad, therapy from NHC Becky, the staff of 2200 wing, Johnson City Medical Center, and also the Emergency Room Dr. Joseph Hurst, Dr. Clifford Wiegand, Dr… Mohamed Khan and special nurses: Frances Manning & Sam Canter for all the love and care shown to Kenneth during his illness.   The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Friday prior to the service or at the residence at anytime.  Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
