Larry B. “Moe” Presnell, born September 3, 1948 to the late Mary Nave Presnell and Thomas Vance Presnell, passed away peacefully and was reunited with his beloved son on March 4, 2022 with his family at his side. Larry graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1966, where he played baseball. He married the love of his life, Regina Brown, in 1968. He passed his love for sports on to his kids and grandkids and enjoyed coaching several teams when his kids were playing. He was an avid fan of the Tennessee Vols, LA Dodgers, any team his grandkids were a part of. He spent the early years of his life dedicated to his family’s business, Presnell Motors, and had a passion for anything Chrysler, Plymouth or Dodge. He served two years in the Army and fought in the Viet Nam Conflict, followed by 26 years in the Army National Guard and served during Desert Storm. He retired from the National Guard in 2001.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Shane Presnell, sister Carolyn Presnell Puckett, brother Thomas “Buzz” Presnell, nephew Tom Presnell, niece Beth Harrell , and his special Golden Retrievers, Brodie and Cheyenne. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Regina (Brown) Presnell, daughters Chelli Proffitt (Marty) and Kylie McGee (Bo), grandchildren Cayden and Caleb Campbell, Tori Miller, Bayley McGee and Peyton McGee, Megan Presnell and Cody Presnell, great grandson Grant Glover and great granddaughter Landry Caroline Miller, brother Rick Presnell (Peggy), niece and nephew Sara Snavely and Ryan Presnell. Also surviving are nieces Joye Couts, Melissa Johnson, Tommie Carol Richardson. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. His dog Merry was his best friend who he shared short drives and all his snacks with, and she never left his side.

Private Services will be conducted Tuesday, March 8, 2022 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Jason Payne, Minister officiating. Megan Presnell, Granddaughter and Ryan Presnell, nephew will give a eulogy. Active Pallbearers will be: Bo McGee, Marty Proffitt, Cayden Campbell, Caleb Campbell, Ryan Presnell, Laban Peterson, David Forbes and Dillon Woodby. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Rick Presnell, Doug Brown, Gene Brown, Doug Souder, Paul Smith and Bob Hazenfield. Military Honors will be provided by Veterans Honor Guard, DAV. 39, Bluff City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry’s memory to the Carter County Animal Shelter or St. Jude Children’s Hospital (ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at stjude.org/donate.
