Leota Walker Rash, age 90, of Johnson City, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Mrs. Rash was a daughter of the late William Roby and Sally Stout Walker and was the youngest of twelve children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Roy Rash and a son, Ron W. Rash.
Mrs. Rash was a native of the Neva Community of Johnson County but lived most of her life in Carter County. She was of the Baptist faith and was a volunteer at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, a charter member of WOTM and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Lowe and husband, Bennie, Johnson City; a son, Daniel Rash and fiancé, Samantha Hilton, both of Elizabethton; a brother, Hugh Walker, Neva, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she was so proud of.
A service to honor the life of Leota Walker Rash will be conducted at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Reverend Shannon Courtner and a nephew, Mr. John Eggers, officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon – 1:30 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Wednesday.
The graveside service will follow the funeral at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Ed Walker, Michael Wilson, Dennis Walker, John Eggers and others selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be David Smith, Steve Smith, Kenneth Andes, Lynn Rash, John Rash and W.A. Clemmons.
