Lois Ramey Wright, 87, of Elizabethton, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at the Hillview Health Center. Mrs. Wright was the daughter of the late Hobart Paris Ramey and Ibbie Garnet (Adkins) Ramey and was born in Coeburn, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married in 1948, John Wayne Wright in 1985; siblings, E.L. “Buddy” Ramey; Ruby Meagher; Barnette Blevins; Charlotte Bruner, William “Bill” Ramey; and a son, Younger Wright.

Mrs. Wright was a 1948 graduate of Elizabethton High School and a member of First Christian Church where she was also a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Mrs. Wright was an Assistant Vice-President at the Bank of Tennessee (Carter County Bank) where she worked most of her career before her retirement from the bank at the age of 75. She worked for 10 years at Burgie Drug Store prior to starting her career in banking. She was formerly in the Red Hat Society and she loved to square dance.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Philip Wright (Rhonda Reeves) of Johnson City; a daughter, Karen Wright, (Charlie Hughes) of Elizabethton; two grandsons, Travis Hughes, Elizabethton; Wes Wright (Nikki), of Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Chelsey Kirkland, (Ashton) of Johnson City; and three great-grandchildren, Braxton Wright, Julian Wright, and Nash Kirkland. Her sister, Jackie Pannell, of Elizabethton, as well as several nieces and nephews, also survive.

A service to honor the life of Mrs. Wright will be conducted on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Michael Klaus, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Wednesday prior to the service.

The committal service will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park on Wednesday. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to First Christian Church, 513 Hattie Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or to the charity of their choice.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff of Hillview Health Center for the love and care given to Mrs. Wright during her five years there.
