Lola Whitehead Butler, 90, Hampton, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2015 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Born June 6, 1925 in Carter County, one of the children of the late Dayton and Mollie Ingram Whitehead. She attended Cloudland High School. Mrs. Butler retired as a Supervisor of the former East Tennessee Undergarment Factory. She was a member of the Little Mountain Baptist Church. Her hobbies were shopping and sewing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Butler who died in 1984, by four brothers: Lawrence, Gene, Vernon and Darrell Whitehead and three sisters: Voretta and Ruth Hill and Infant Joyce Elizabeth Hill.
Survivors include Two Sisters: Geraldine Arney, Elizabethton and Peggy Whitehead, Elk Park, North Carolina. Two Brothers: Byrl Whitehead and his wife June, Roan Mountain and Brady Lee Whitehead and wife Deloris, Hampton, Virginia. Several nieces & nephews and great and great great nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Raymond Hill and Rev. Derick Hughes officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 1 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2015 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:20 p.m. Monday will be: Nicky, Billy, Robbie, Bobby, and Todd Whitehead, Clarence and Ernie Largent and Josey Oliver. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Raymond Hill, Curtis Carter, Freddie Julian, Mike Davis, Mike Blevins, Tom Reine, Mark Hill, Roling St Clair, Rocky, Steven, Estill, Ricky and Randy Whitehead, Muriel Townsend, Charles “Dud” Ingram, Leon Whitehead, David Vaught and employees of the former East Tennessee Undergarment Factory. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence.
