Lucy N. Morris, age 87, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from the Hillview Health Care Center, following a brief illness. Lucy was a native of Carter County and was a daughter of the late James and Nellie Shipley Massengill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Allen Morris on August 3, 2007; a son, William Earl Morris; two brothers, Robert and J.W. Massengill; three sisters, Oma Jones, Glenna Newton, and Lillie Mae Wampler.

Lucy retired from Watson’s Department Store and was a member of Borderview Christian Church. She was a former member of the Home Demonstration Club and enjoyed embroidery.

Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Davis, Johnson City; two sons, Steven Allen Morris and wife Linda, Atlanta, Indiana and Larry E. Morris and wife Jeanne, Advance, NC; two grandsons, William Morris, Westfield, Indiana and Seth Morris, Advance, NC; and one brother, Herbert Massengill, Watauga, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor the life of Lucy will be conducted at 1:30 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2015 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Gerald Holly and Mr. Scott Fisher, ministers, officiating. Music will be provided by the Borderview Quartet, Scott Reynolds, Raymond Morton and Gail Aurelio. The family will receive friends from Noon until 1:30 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday.

The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Rick Barnes, Terry Oliver, Wayne Torbett, Bailey Massengill, Terry Jones, William Morris, Seth Morris and Jim Caldwell. Honorary pallbearers will be her family of Borderview Christian Church, nephews and nephews-in-law, David Honeycutt, Tony Honeycutt and Steve Honeycutt.
