Margaret J. Ward, 75, Hampton, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Rosie Guy Dugger and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Ward; two daughters, Kimberly Annette Ward and Kitty Renee Braswell; three sisters, Shelby Lunceford, Barbara Ratcliff and her last sibling, Anna Lee Ward; also her step-father, Harvey Joyner.
Margaret loved to sing, garden, cook, visit yard and estate sales and spend time with her family, whom she loved and enjoyed. She was retired from Norris Industries and was a member of Hampton Freewill Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Greg Ward, of the home; a grandson Dylan Gregory Ward, Johnson City; a granddaughter, Ciara Kimberly Ward, Hampton; and two great-granddaughters, Kylie Elizabeth Ward, Johnson City and Addison McNeil, Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Margaret J. Ward will be conducted on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Chapel, with Rev. James Hawk and Rev. Danny Osborne officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The graveside service and interment will be on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Dylan Gregory Ward, Richard Lunceford, Cody Marsillett and others selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Dexter Lunceford, Carolyn Marshall, Margaret Presnell and Betty Cole. Family and friends may meet at the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
