Margie McQueen Townsend Lyons, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2014.
She was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Lee Harvey and Deborah Smith McQueen. Mrs. Lyons was a retired employee of the Baxter Corporation in Johnson City after 30 years of service. She was a Christian and was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Elizabethton.
She was best known for the love of her family and children. She enjoyed quilting, cooking for her family, gospel music, reading and especially enjoyed playing games with her grandson. Even though her family will greatly miss her, they know she is rejoicing in heaven with her loved ones.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Charles Edward Townsend of Elizabethton after 33 years and her 2nd husband Ray Lyons after 16 years of marriage, five brothers: Harry McQueen, Shirley Albert McQueen, and F.M. McQueen (infant), James David “J.D.” McQueen and Kenneth “Kenny” McQueen all of Elizabethton and her two sisters: Charlotte “Sue” McQueen Lady of Johnson City and Beatrice “Bo” McQueen Elliott of Elizabethton.
Survivors include her son: Edward Lee “Edd” Townsend and wife Pammie of Elizabethton. Her Daughter: Gina Townsend Osborne and husband Mark of Johnson City. Her Grandson: Alex Osborne. Her Brothers and Sisters-In-Law: George & Louise McQueen, Charles & Virginia “Ginny” McQueen, Ivan & Jean McQueen and Katie Williams McQueen, Jean McQueen and F.D. Elliott, Brother-in-law. Her special Nieces & Nephews: Shirley McQueen Rambo, Ruthie McQueen Vaughn, Mary McQueen Davis, Kyle McQueen, Patty Rambo, Holly Rambo Carter, Kim Vaughn Russell, Pete Taylor, Jason Taylor, Sam McQueen, Cameron McQueen, Glenn McQueen, Brenda McQueen, Terry McQueen, Randy McQueen, Danny McQueen, David McQueen, Jimmy McQueen, Steve McQueen, Gary Lady and Bob Lady. Her Step-Children: Kathy Lyons Wilson and husband Clarence Wilson, Jr. and Herman Lyons all of Elizabethton. Her Step-Grandchildren: Kirk Wilson and wife Heidi of Kingsport, Charity Wilson Bell and husband Jeff, Elizabethton, Legina Wilson Singleton, Elizabethton. Her Special Great Step-Grandchildren: Katie Wilson, Olivia Wilson, Kevin Wilson, Don Singleton, II and Noah Singleton. Her special friends: Pansey Hanson, Janice and Theal McCracken, retired co-workers of Baxter (formerly Pharmaseal), Earl Cox and Ervin Ketchum. A special cousin: Jeanette “Cricket” Kyte Hyatt of Bluff City.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Hillman officiating. Music will be under the direction of her son, Edd Townsend. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be: Mark Osborne, David McQueen, Glenn McQueen, Sam Shipley, Kyle McQueen, Pete Taylor, John Depew and David Hammonds. Honorary Pallbearers will be: F.D. Elliott, Earl Cox and Ervin Ketchum. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
