Marion Joseph Barnett, age 87 of Johnson City, TN passed away September 15, 2020 at his residence. He was the son of the late William McKinley Barnett and Emma Victoria Gibbs Barnett. Marion was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved to golf, bowl, and play softball. Marion was a retired tool maker from ITT and TPI. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the Tennessee National Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Christopher Matthew Barnett and Bryan Joshua Barnett; brothers, Foyster Barnett, Hyder Barnett, Brainard Barnett; sisters, June Lyons, Joyce Spann and Patsy Wilson. Those left to cherish his memories are; his wife, Dr. Laura Barnett of the home; Patsy and husband Todd Franklin, Jonesborough, TN; Marion Joseph II and wife Leigh Ann Barnett, Gray, TN; Kimberly Barnett, Pineville, NC; Jon and wife Karen Hutchins Barnett, Elizabethton, TN; Dr. Steve and wife Kristin Souder Barnett, Johnson City, TN; Peter Anthony Barnett, Johnson City, TN; William and wife Heather Baer Barnett, Johnson City, TN; Emma and husband Frank Wilson, Mint Hill, NC; Jeff and wife Carrie Ricker Barnett, Litchfield, ME and Greg and wife Amanda Dunbar Barnett, Elizabethton, TN; sister, Emogene Barnett Taylor, Johnson City, TN; twenty three Grand-Children; one Great Grand-Child, and many nieces and nephews.

A service to honor the life of Marion J. Barnett will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, September 18, 2020 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church with Father Dennis Kress officiating. Seating will be limited for the Mass and face coverings are required as well as social distancing observed.

The graveside service and interment will be held following the Mass on Friday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

Friends may come by Hathaway-Percy between the hours of 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 17, 2020 to sign the guestbook and pay their respects.

The family would like to give a special thank you to staff at Johnson City Medical Center and Ballad Health Hospice Care for all their loving care and support.
