Martha Etta Hubbard VanHuss, 86, Elizabethton passed away Friday March 16, 2018 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Earnest B. & Mary Etta Stamey Hubbard. Martha was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and attended Steed College. She worked at Allen Taylor, Pharmacy prior to going to the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center where she had worked for 32 years as a Respiratory Therapist. Martha was Miss Rhododendron in 1952. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Lorene Bare and Mildred Greene and a brother: Paul Hubbard.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years: K.S. “Dick” VanHuss. Two Children: Jeff VanHuss and wife Cherie, Powder Springs, Georgia and M. Lissa VanHuss, Knoxville. One Grandson: Turner Milan and his father, Jimmy W. Milan, Knoxville. One Brother: Harold Hubbard & wife Virginia, Elizabethton. Several nieces & nephews.

A Service to Celebrate the life of Martha VanHuss will be conducted at 6 p .m. Sunday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Polk officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2018 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Laney Falin, and Holly Falin.  Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of 6th floor, Johnson City Medical Center and Dr. Christina Hutchins, and Dr. Devapiran Jaishankers. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Monday to go to the cemetery.
