Mary C. King, age 89, of Elizabethton, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. She was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Irene Shaw King and was born in Fall Rivers, MA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Veronica “Ronnie” King; a brother, Thomas King and a great-nephew, Jeremy King.
Mary C. King was retired from Sycamore Shoals Hospital where she worked as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church where she was active in the Ladies Guild for 25 years. She loved flowers, was a wonderful cook, enjoyed sewing and quilting and was a member of the Sycamore Shoals Stitchers.
Those left to cherish her memory include a sister, Katherine Leamon, of Elizabethton; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Delores King, of Johnson City; three nephews, Tim and Ann King; of Johnson City; Mike and Jennifer McComas, of Anderson, SC; Sam and Clara King, of Johnson City; a niece, Tandy Ward and her husband, Keith, of Johnson City; and her good friends, Pam Goad and Lisa Buck, both of Elizabethton.
A funeral mass will be conducted for Mary C. King at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Father Dennis Kress officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Wednesday prior to the service.
Committal and interment will follow the service on Wednesday at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
