Mary Edna D’Andelet, age 96, of Elizabethton, joined our dear Father in eternal life on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Pine Ridge Care & Rehab Center. Mrs. D’Andelet was born in Johnson County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Herman and Fina Stout Grindstaff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. D’Andelet; two sisters, Zola Shankle and Edith Elizondo; two nephews, Benny Shankle and Fredrick Herman Elizondo.
Mrs. D’Andelet retired as a teacher in Hyattsville, Maryland and attended Stoney Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include one niece, Rebecca Yankosky, Frederick, Maryland. Other nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Mary Edna D’Andelet will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Bryan Smith and Rev. Bill Greer, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Tom Anderson. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Wednesday.
The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you and appreciation goes out to the Pine Ridge Care & Rehab Center for all their loving care given to Mrs. D’Andelet.
