Mildred C. Carriger, 82, of Cornerstone Village North, Johnson City, went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was a daughter of the late William Emmert Taylor and Flara Smith Taylor and was born in Carter County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Carriger; a brother, William W. Taylor, Sr.; six sisters, Helen L. Taylor, Evelyn L. Taylor, Pauline Edwards, Betty Roten, all of whom were from Elizabethton; Edna Archer, Johnson City and Mary Bernholt, Versailles, OH.
She was a faithful member of University Parkway Baptist Church where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. In addition to her love for her church and its activities, she enjoyed the many events at Cornerstone Village and loved her time there.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Susan Carriger, Johnson City; a sister, Margaret Carver, Elizabethton; and a sister-in-law, Vergie Taylor, Elizabethton. She will also be missed by her many friends and especially by her nieces and nephews; all of whom loved her dearly and cherished her sweet smile. Her faith, words of witness to her Lord and her wisdom will always be remembered by all her family.
A service to honor the life of Mildred Carriger will be conducted on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 7:00 PM in the University Parkway Baptist Church, 219 University Parkway, Johnson City, TN, with Dr. Michael Oaks and Rev. Scott Thompson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Kathy Thompson. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 – 7:00 PM prior to the service on Monday.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are invited to meet the family at the cemetery at 9:45 AM on Tuesday.
The family would like to express a special and loving thank you to the staff of Cornerstone Village, North, for the care and love shown to Mildred and the family during her time there.
Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the West Carter County Volunteer Fire Department, 1420 Milligan Hwy, Johnson City, TN 37601.

Michael “Mikey” Conley
Michael “Mikey” Conley, age 24, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday June 4, 2016 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Elizabethton, he was a son of George Conley and Darlene Stewart Conley. Mikey was a 2010 graduate of Happy Valley High School and was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church. He had just been hired at Buffalo Wild Wings and was excited about working there! Mikey and his brother were looking forwards to their beach trip this summer, he was going to rent a Challenger to drive to the beach. Mikey was the type of person that never met a stranger, always willing to help anyone in need. He loved his Miata and loved to travel. 
Mikey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Cordie Conley; great grandfather, Luther Stewart. Survivors include his father, George Lee Conley, Johnson City; mother, Darlene Stewart Conley, Johnson City and her fiancé, Michael Jenkins, Elizabethton; brother, Nicholas Conley, Johnson City; sister, Haley Conley Johnson, Elizabethton; maternal grandparents, Dan and Georgette Stewart; great grandparents, George and Louise Good, Johnson City, Gladys Stewart, Dandridge, TN; fiancé, Nicole LeJeune, Johnson City. Several Aunts, Uncle, and Cousins also survive. He also leaves behind his loving Dog, Diamond.
The funeral service for Mikey will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Friday, June 10, 2016 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Kyker officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the parlor of the funeral home.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 11 from Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:30 P.M. to travel in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Nick Conley, Nathan Roark, Michael DePriest, Justin Johnson, John Holmes, Bobby Roark, and Danny Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be his many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist in the funeral costs.
