Nancy Grindstaff Stevens, 67, Johnson City, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Mitchell County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Edd Grindstaff & Verna Garland Grindstaff Burleson. She had lived most of her life in Tennessee. She was a 1965 graduate of Science Hill High School and had an associate degree from Northeast State Community College. She retired from Levi-Strauss after 25 years of service. After retirement from there she was employed by City Bank of Gray. She was a member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church, Elizabethton. She loved to read. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Ann Trantham.
Survivors include Two Daughters: Teresa Mathes and husband Greg, Elizabethton and Sheri Trivett and husband Ken, Johnson City. Four Grandchildren: Kendra McKinney and husband Corey, Danielle Lewis, Kristin Mathes and Jagger Mathes. Five Brothers: Bob and Eddie Grindstaff, Perry, Larry & Harry Burleson. Numerous nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Burleson and Rev. Tim Gouge officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday will be: Jagger Mathes, Corey McKinney, Brian Stevens, Chris Stevens, Toby Guinn and Todd McKinney. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” Tanner Payne and the Doctors and Nurses of 2700 Wing ICU, Johnson City Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday prior to the funeral service. Friends may also visit with the family at the home of a daughter Teresa Mathes, 1615 Charity Hill Road, Elizabethton.
