Mr. Newell “Duane” Blevins, 42, of Johnson City, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. He was the son of the late William Henry and Vada Elizabeth Humphrey Blevins and was born in Johnson City. Mr. Blevins was employed by Appalachian Christian Village and was a member of Sims Hill Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Hughes Blevins, of the home; a step-son, Isaac Pinkston, Johnson City; a step-daughter-in-law, Cortnie Dalton, Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Anslie Pinkston, Johnson City; an uncle J.R. Blevins, N.C ; two aunts, Letha Dial and Bessie Scott, both of Elizabethton; and his special friends, Monie Honeycutt, Carol Honeycutt and Joe Honeycutt all of Elizabethton. Several cousins also survive.
A service to honor the life of Mr. Blevins will be conducted on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 7:00 PM in the Riverside Chapel, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Bret Jones and Dr. Ted Thomas, ministers, officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday prior to the service and at the home at other times.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Keith Nave, Adam Reeser, Mark Edens, Philip Coleman, Teddy Tipton and Jeff Chambers. Honorary pallbearers will be Marcus Julian, Kirk Hughes, Jeff Hess, Kim Hughes, Matt Lunceford, Rocky Stump, David Buck, Lowell Garrison and Josh Dalton. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
