Mrs. Nina Maye Corder Isley, age 88, passed away in Wellmont Regional Hospital on Thursday, May 7, 2015. She was born in Wise, VA. She was a graduate of Tennessee High School, Bristol, TN and Business College in Knoxville, TN.

She was retired from the State of North Carolina. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bristol, VA. She was active in the Black‘s Fort Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of Colonial Dames XVIIC.

Nina is survived by her son, Rhett William Isley of Sanford, North Carolina, daughter, Erieen Geiselle Isley Thompson of Cary, North Carolina, grandchildren William Greggory Isley, Christina Alyse Isley, Reece Alexander Isley and Grace Ann Isley, her twin sister Ina Faye Corder Stephenson of Bristol, TN, brother Phillip Craig Corder and sister-in-law Frances Cutshall Corder of Greeneville, TN, special nephews and nieces, and Pam Slaughter, a loving friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy William Isley, her parents Isaac Elwood Corder and Margret (Maggie) Wright Corder, sisters Alyse Raye Corder Houser, Mary Sam Corder Newgent and Carolyn June Corder Cunningham

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home, 2223 Volunteer Parkway, Bristol, TN. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ronnie Brewer, First Baptist Church, Bristol, VA officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton, TN with a wreath ceremony by the Black’s Fort Chapter of the DAR.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1 Virginia Street, Bristol, VA 24201.
