Nola L. Timbs, 80, Johnson City passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the home of a daughter after a brief illness. Nola was born July 28, 1935 in Elizabethton to the late Sidney & Lessie Pearl Sheets Byers. Nola lived most of her life in Elizabethton with the exception of the past 10 years while living with her daughter in Johnson City. She was of the Christian Faith and a member of Borderview Christian Church for many years. Nola will be remembered for her love of Children having raised seven of her own along with assisting with caring for many other children throughout her lifetime.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Haskel “Hack” Timbs on February 11, 1991, two sisters, Irene Byars and Betty Byers and four brothers: Carl, Ray, John & Terry Byers.
She is survived by her children: Steven (Suzan) Timbs, Kennedy , Texas, Rita Timbs (Robert) Gouge, Bakersville, North Carolina, Timothy (Sharon Culler), Elizabethton, Sandy Timbs of Johnson City, Vickie(Darrell) Woods, Elizabethton, Rick (Barbara) Timbs, Jonesborough and Bill (Denise) Timbs, Elizabethton. Three Sisters: Hazel (Larry) Buckles, Ruth Roark and Mandy (Dr. David) Freeman. One Brother: Jerry Byers. 17 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren and two Great Great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Ernie Depew, Minister officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Mr. Bobby McGee. Active Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Robert Gouge, Darrell Woods, Bobby McGee, Walter Schwiem and Joe Revelee. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Staff of Advent Hospice of Johnson City and Smokey Mountain Medical, along with Dr. Vivian Clark and her staff, thanks also to Mandy Freemon and Denise Timbs for your assistance and kindness throughout her time of need. A special “Thank You” to mom’s best friend, Sharon Helbert for her expressions of love and kindness. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Nola to her “special little Buddy” R.J. Morelock Fund. Memorials may be made to Sandra White, Fund Manager, at 307 Holland Drive, Kingsport, Tennessee 37663. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of Bill & Denise Timbs, 114 Hartley Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
