Nolan Dean Sams, 67, Elizabethton, passed away Monday August 22, 2016 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Hughy & Carrie Blevins Sams. Nolan was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. He was employed in Maintenance and a Car Salesman. He attended the Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Campbell, two sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife: Phyllis O’Grady; Two Sons & Daughters-in-Law: Guy & Barbara Sams, Tommy Dean & Kristy Sams. Four Grandchildren: Dustun Sams, Christine Campbell, Mickey Campbell, Jr and Tracie Stout. Four Sisters: JoAnn Waycaster, Tootsie Harrell Hill, Diana Pleasant (Don) of Elizabethton and Polly McPeek (Terry) of South Carolina. Six Brothers: Tommy Sams and Eddie Sams, Watauga, Fred Sams, South Carolina, Johnny Sams and FD Sams of Elizabethton and Jerry Sams, Florida and his dog Taco.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Burleson and Rev. Kim Casey officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family and the residence of a sister, JoAnn Waycaster, 1716 Southside Road, Elizabethton. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital walk-in-ICU and special nurse, Jeremy Adkins.
