Nyoka Jean Walker Perry, 69, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Earl & Lillie Peters Walker. Nyoka was a graduate of Unaka High School. She was an employee of the Elizabethton Star for over 20 years and also was employed at Folsom Printing Company. She loved to spend time with her family. She was a member of Watauga Valley Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Betty Williams and two brothers: Dallas & Eugene Walker.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years: Sherrell Perry. Her Children: Megan Blystone & husband Kyle, Madison, Alabama and Daniel Perry & wife Sada, Nashville, Tennessee, Four grandchildren: Alexis, Wesley & Robby Perry and Caleb Blystone. One Brother: Gordon Walker, Elizabethton.
Graveside Service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill Greer officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Kenneth Perry and Earl Bishop. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the family & friends who were supportive of them during her illness and the Staff of Amedysis Hospice for all their care. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until 1 p.m. Sunday prior to the graveside service. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence.
