Patricia “Patsy” Buck Denny, age 71, of Elizabethton, TN passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 in the Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, the Roan Mountain community, she was the daughter of the late James Paul and Margaret Hoss Buck.
Ms. Denny was a retired teacher having taught at Dobyns-Bennett High School for thirty-eight years. She was currently serving as Church secretary at East River Park Christian Church where she was a member. Patsy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Moody.
Survivors include a son, Lance Denny and wife Malina, Johnson City, TN; two grandchildren, Sheridan Denny and Holden Denny, Johnson City, TN; a sister, Jimmie Buck, Elizabethton; a niece, Leslie Manning and husband Tommy, Ringgold, GA; a great-niece and a great-nephew, Kelli Manning and Joe Manning, Ringgold, GA and a special friend, Curt Campbell.
A service to honor the life of Patsy will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Monday, August 4, 2014 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. John H. Smith and Mr. Barry Pettit, ministers officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Mary Smith.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Monday prior to the funeral service or at her residence at other times. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 in Happy Valley Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Tom Barkes, Derek Woodward, Kenneth Hartley, Bill Hull, Lance Morehead, Dick Cain and Tommy Manning. Honorary pallbearers will be Curt Campbell, Justin Stauffer and Jerry Moody. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 A.M. on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Joe Lee and his surgical team, nurses and staff of the ICU 2800 of the Johnson City Medical Center and Dr. Robert Schubert for their care of Ms. Denny.
