Patricia A. Gray, age 75, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 01, 2017 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Patricia was a native of Carter County and daughter of Freddie Beatrice Taylor Crawford and the late Cecil Crawford. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Leila Bradford, Joan Dixon, and Linda Wright; and one brother, Cecil Crawford.
Patricia retired as a teacher and was a member of New Zion Faith Center in Johnson City. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Women’s Group of Elizabethton, delivered food to the needy on Wednesdays, and also worked with Meals on Wheels. She was active in church and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, arts and crafts and playing games.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 55 years, Robert “Bob” Gray, of the home; three children, Beatrice Jackson and husband Anthony, of Atlanta, GA, Sumaiyah Ali, of Greensboro, NC, and Barry Thomas Gray, of Elizabethton; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Jawaad, I’jaaz, Barry, Jr., Jordan, Dorothy, Jr., Andrew, and Charise; twelve great grandchildren, Liyah, Asiyah, Idris, Ashley, Brittany, Bailey, Theresa, Barry Thomas, Julia Taylor, Sean, Mia, and Michael; two brothers, Jerry Crawford and Michael Crawford; and two sisters, Elaine Napier and Theresa Crawford. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Patricia A. Gray will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Ernest Widby, Sr., officiating. Music will be under the direction of New Zion Faith Center of Johnson City. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Tuesday.
The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
