Paul Robert Davis Jr., 85, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Kingsport, Tenn., he was the son of the late Paul Robert Davis Sr. and Maxine Bevins Davis.
Mr. Davis was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School Class of 1946. During his high school years, he was a star pitcher for Dobyns-Bennett. He was a 1950 graduate of Steed College with a Bachelor of Science degree in higher accounting.
Mr. Davis married Imogene Miller Davis on January 6, 1951 at the Church of the Pilgrams, Washington, D.C. He retired after 39 years from the Potomac Rubber Company, Washington, D.C., as an accountant. He returned to Northeast Tennessee after his retirement in 1990.
Mr. Davis was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Imogene Miller Davis, of the home; a son, Paul Robert Davis III, Elizabethton; a daughter, Lisa Dawn Davis, Elizabethton; a brother, Dr. Gerald T. Davis and wife Joanne, Loudon, Tenn.; a sister, Carolyn Davis Lowe and husband William, Johnson City, Tenn.; two aunts, Helen Davis Leonard and husband Walter, Canton, N.C., and Edna Davis Arnold and husband Roy, Mt. Carmel, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Josephine Miller Kerley and husband Harry, Mountain City, Tenn.; and a brother-in-law, Will M. Miller Jr., Hampton, Tenn. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at a funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Paul Robert Davis Jr. on Friday, January 3, at 3 p.m. in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral and Cremation Services with the Rev. Calvin Jett officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jerry Barnett. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 until 3 p.m. Friday, prior to the funeral service. The graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Thomas Kerley, Warren Kerley, Donald Greer, Thomas Jackson Greer, David Arnold and Nathan Arnold. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Memorial Presbyterian Church, 100 East F Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or to the charity of their choice.
