Pauline “Polly” Meade Austin, 82, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at her home. A native a Kingsport, TN, she is the daughter of the late James “Coy” and Louise Hicks Meade. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Austin.
Polly graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport and attended ETSU. She retired from Tennessee Eastman after 25 years of service. Polly was a member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church, the Philosophers Sunday School Class and served on the Alter Guild. She was a member of the Monday Club and volunteered at the Johnson City VA and the Salvation Army.
Those left to cherish Polly’s memory include: brothers James “Jim” Meade and his wife Kay of Baltimore, MD and Joseph “Joe” Meade and his wife Judy of Naples, FL.; several nieces and nephews.
The family will gather to receive friends from 10:30 AM until a memorial service beginning at 11:30 AM at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church Chapel, Johnson City on Saturday, January 6, 2017 with Rev. Mark Gooden officiating.
