Peggy L. Guinn Whitehead, age 75, of Elizabethton, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at her home. She was born in Johnson County and was a daughter of the late George and Roxie Bunton Guinn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Keller and two brothers, Bobby J. Guinn and Dean Guinn.

Mrs. Whitehead was a member of Sims Hill Christian Church and attended Beck Mountain Baptist Church. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her family as they did her. She will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of fifty-nine years, Lee Whitehead, of the home; two daughters, Vickie Lyons and her husband, Denny, and Bridget Whitehead, all of Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Shane Lyons, Heather Lyons, Summer Johnson and her husband, Josh, all of Elizabethton; three great-grandchildren, Laken Lyons, Levi Lyons and Abbie Johnson, all of Elizabethton; two sisters, Mary Gouge, Sue Stafford, both of Elizabethton; three brothers, Carl “Bros” Guinn, Dennis “Black” Guinn and Claude “Pet” Guinn, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor the life of Peggy L. Guinn Whitehead will be conducted on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 7:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, Elizabethton with Rev. Ronnie Campbell and Rev. Terry Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Saturday prior to the service, or at the home at other times.

A graveside service and interment will be conducted on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Shane Lyons, Levi Lyons, Josh Johnson, Jack Whitehead, John Rainbolt, Jeff Guinn, Ronnie Keller and Carl Lee Widner. Honorary pallbearers Danny Ray Henegar, Bobby McGee, Stacy Street, Lester Rainbolt, Keith Carr, Ron Whitehead, Rex Whitehead, Jeff Whitehead, James Whitehead and Dr. Charlie Ward. Those wishing to attend are invited to meet the family at the funeral home at 1:15 PM on Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the charity of their choice.
