Peggy Leona White, age 79, Elizabethton, passed away peacefully July 13, 2015 at the home of her son & daughter-in-law: Mike & Michelle White with whom she had made her home for the past five years. Peggy was born August 7, 1935 in Watauga County, North Carolina to the late Ernest & Beulah Teaster White. She had lived sixty years in Elizabethton. She was a homemaker, always devoted to her family never putting herself first. Peggy loved to bowl up until the time her health prevented it. She was a member of the Shulls Mills Baptist Church, Boone, NC and previously had attended Oak Street Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” White who died December 30, 2012, a grandson Tim White in 2000, two sisters and one brother.
Survivors include a daughter: Janet Hill, Elizabethton, a son, daughter-in-law and their daughter: Mike, Michelle & Maggie White of the home. Six Grandchildren: Crystal Hurd and husband Richard, Knoxville, Tn., Anthony Hill, Elizabethton, David Hill, Knoxville, Tn., Bradley Price and wife Christy, Bristol, Tn. & Jessica Duke, Elizabethton. Five Great Grandchildren: Grant White, Harrison, New York, Twins Bralyn & Briley Price, Bristol,, TN., Damian Hill, Elizabethton and Dylan Hurd, Knoxville.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 in Happy Valley Memorial Park with Chaplain Karl Gasser officiating. Burial will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of her son & daughter-in-law: Mike & Michelle White, Elizabethton. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Amedisys Home Health & Hospice Care and the staff of Hermitage Health Center when she was there for all the care & love they showed.
