ELIZABETHTON — Phyllis Ann Hardin Bishop, 77, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday January 28, 2014 in the Hillview Health Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Burchell and Lora Buchanan Hardin.
Phyllis was a 1954 graduate of Elizabethton High School. Her working career was in the retail business. She had been retired for many years.
Phyllis loved the Lord, her family and never met a stranger. Phyllis was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother: Charles Hardin of Seattle, Washington.
Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years: Jimmy “Jim” Bishop. Two Daughters: Teresa Deal and Lisa Sellers. Her Grandchildren: Jamie Vandeventer and wife Lena of Gray, Lori Vandeventer Seehorn and husband Jed, Jonesborough and David Campbell and Crystal Curtis of Elizabethton. Her Great Grandchildren: Kayla Vandeventer, Ben Campbell, Jacob Kaywood, Isaac Thomas and Madeline Curtis. A Sister: Jean Morgan and Dean Hardin.
A Service to celebrate the life of Phyllis Bishop will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Nathan Jennings and Rev. Jack Lloyd officiating.
Entombment Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Alecia Holder, Soloist and Carol Bowers, Organist.
Pallbearers will be chosen from family and friends.
For those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Bishop to the First Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, 706 First Street, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hillview Health Center and Dr. Vivian Clark for their loving care of Phyllis.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Saturday to go to the cemetery.
