Phyllis Davenport, age 75, of Elizabethton went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 8, 2018 at her residence. Phyllis was born in Butler, Tennessee to the late Jady and Faye Robinson Fritts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Bobby Joe Davenport; two brothers, Malcolm Fritts and Kenneth Fritts; and a daughter, Kathy Davenport.
Phyllis was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be missed tremendously by all who knew her. She was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Richard Davenport, of Elizabethton; her daughter, Donna Royston and husband Danny, of Lake Wylie, SC; three grandchildren, Devin Trivette, Kayla Davenport and Bobby Davenport; her sister, Helen Huffine, of Elizabethton; and her special friend, Lee Hamm, of Elizabethton.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Phyllis Davenport will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. James Henson and Rev. Dean Smith, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday.
The graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 PM on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Allen Smith, Bobby Davenport, Austin Jaynes, Jimmy Bowling, John Pansock and Gordon Nidiffer. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 12:45 PM on Sunday, to go in procession.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Amedysis Hospice for the love and care shown to Phyllis during her illness.
