Precious in the sight of the Lord, is the death of His saints.

Mr. Robert Donley Williams, 73, of Roan Highlands Nursing Center, Roan Mountain, entered into eternal rest into the arms of his Savior, on Saturday, November 07, 2015 at Roan Highlands Nursing Center. He was a son of the late Rod D. and Iola Miller Williams and was born in Carter County on February 17, 1942.

Mr. Williams was a 1960 graduate of Hampton High School and an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army who proudly served his country as a mechanic in the 19th Engineer Battalion during the Viet Nam War where he was stationed at Camron Bay, Viet Nam. He was retired from Rite Screen, Inc., of Elizabethton.

He was a loving, wonderful husband and father. He loved his wife, Debbie, who was devoted to him and was his best friend. His family and friends were many and he was truly loved by all who met him. He enjoyed NASCAR and football with his favorite team always being the Dallas Cowboys. He was a Christian man who was a member of Borderview Christian Church for many years before he became unable to attend. He loved his Lord and Savior and is now with Jesus, his mom, dad, two very close cousins, Jean Pearce and “Bud” Malone, as well as other family and friends. There will be a large hole in the hearts of those who knew him. He had many friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Debbie Johnson Williams, of the home; a daughter, Tammy Beth Williams, High Point, NC; a sister, Sharon Smalling and her husband, Jerry, Hampton; his special friends, Dwight Rasnick, Doug Shipley, Dexter Shipley, Jerry McNeil, Dennis Hart, D. L. Hopson, his cousin, Dr. Willie Malone, Lawrence and Letha Ritchie, Jason Linker, J. W. and Opal Baird, Betty McNeil and Johnny Chambers.

The a service to honor the life of Mr. Williams will be conducted at 6:00 PM on Monday, November 9, 2015 in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Charles Pearce and Pastor Dwayne Calhoun officiating. Music will be under the direction of Anna Hurley and Greg Odom. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Monday prior to the service or at the home at other times.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Mike Williams, Dwight Rasnick, Doug Shipley, D.L. Hopson, Dexter Shipley, and Daniel Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be his family and friends and the members of Borderview Christian Church and Hampton Christian Church. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet the family at the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.

The family would like to express a very heartfelt thank you to the Administrative staff of Roan Highlands Nursing Center, his CNAs who have been with him from the very beginning, Lola, Flo, and JoJo, and the other CNAs who loved Bob; his Hampton Christian Church family who visited Bob while he was in the nursing home with a special thank you to Wayne and Cami McClain.
