Robert Joe Williams, 82, Hampton, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, in the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late George L. and Margaret Bowling Williams.
Mr. Williams was retired from the United States Army after 22 years of service. He served during the Vietnam Era. He was also retired from Harris-Tarkett. Mr. Williams was a member of Fork Mountain Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Faye Williams; Two Sisters: Lena Jones and Sandy Brock; and Two Brothers: Edwin Williams and Carl Williams.
Survivors include his wife: Dorothy Woodby Williams; Four Sons: Bobby Joe Williams and wife, Lisa, and Timothy Williams and wife, Mattie, all of Elizabethton, Jimmy Woodby and wife, Clara, and Jackie Woodby and wife, Eileen, all of Hampton; Six Grandchildren; Two Great Grandchildren; Five Sisters: Carolyn Campbell, Margaret Hopson, Patricia Collins and Pearl Hilton, all of Elizabethton, and Iva Lee Williams, Butler; One Brother: Lewis Williams, Panama City, Florida; Several nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Trivette and Rev. Ronald Stevens officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2014, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by the Fork Mountain Singers. Military Honors and Pallbearers will be provided by the Tennessee National Guard. Honorary Pallbearers will be His Church Family.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
