Robert Leroy Stockton, age 79, of Roan Mountain, went to meet Jesus, and the love of his life, his wife, Lou Ella Stockton, on Friday, January 26, 2018, in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. He was a son of the late Claude and Mary Odom Stockton and was born in Banner Elk, NC. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law and two nephews.

Mr. Stockton was a 1957 graduate of Cloudland High School. He was retired from Siemens and was the former co-owner and operator of The Stockton Residential Home for the Elderly. He was also a valued and much loved employee of Wal-Mart in Elizabethton. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, the ocean and spending time on the beach. He loved his grandchildren and great-granddaughter and was happy when he was spending time with them. He was also a woodworker. Mr. Stockton was a member of St. John’s Freewill Baptist Church and attended the Zion Baptist Church. Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Diana Tolley, of the home; Tammy Blevins, and her husband, Mark, of Johnson City; one grandson, Robert Tolley, and his wife, Hope, of Roan Mountain; a granddaughter, Rebekah Jennings, of Unicoi; a great-granddaughter, Ella Hope Tolley, Roan Mountain and his best little buddy, Bristol. Several nieces and nephews who affectionately called him “Satch”, and were near and dear to his heart, also survive.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Stockton will be conducted on Monday, January 29, 2018, at 7:00 PM at the Zion Baptist Church 182 Gap Creek Road, Elizabethton, TN with Rev. Roger Stockton, Associate Pastor, James Hughes and Dr. Alan King officiating. Music will be under the direction of Brandon Young and Chris and Darla McKinney. The family will receive friends in the church from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday prior to the service or at the home at other times.

The committal and entombment service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Robert Tolley, Johnie Bennett, Tony Bennett, Fred Montgomery, Roger Wilson and Curtis Cannon. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Stockton, Gary Stockton, Jonathan Bennett, Mark Blevins, Josh DuVall, Johnnie DuVall, Nicholas Montgomery and Todd Estep. Those wishing to attend are invited to meet at the church at 9:15 AM on Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Danielle (RN), and the rest of the nursing staff in the ICU and the 2500 Floor of Johnson City Medical Center, Dr. Hamati, and the many, many beloved friends and family for the love, prayers and support shown to Mr. Stockton and the family during his illness.
