Robert W. “Bob” Madgett, age 81, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 16, 2019 from the Ivy Hall Nursing Home in Elizabethton. Bob was born in Bluff City, Tennessee to the late Charles B. and Pearle Millsap Madgett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Madgett; and three brothers-in-law, Steve Williams, Reverend Dale Harmon and Dr. Bill Raulston.

Bob retired from Sprint as a District Engineer and was a member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. Bob loved the outdoors and loved bluegrass music. He was a member of the Elizabethton High School Class of 1956. He was voted best natured by his classmates and that trait followed him for the remainder of his life.

Those left to cherish his wonderful legacy include his wife, Jean Raulston Madgett, of the home; two sons, Chuck Madgett and wife Debbie, of Elizabethton and Mark Madgett and wife Julia, of Blountville; four grandchildren, Savannah Madgett, Emilie Madgett, Sara Madgett and Amelia Madgett; three sisters, Nanette Harmon, of Richmond, VA, Charlene Williams, of Fairfield Glade, TN and Pattie Carnley and husband Wade, of Crestview, FL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor and celebrate the life of Robert W. “Bob” Madgett will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 19, 2019 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Reverend Raymond Amos, Sr., officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Monday or at the residence at other times.

Interment will follow the service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

The family would like to especially thank Dr. Jonathan Bremer and the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the loving care given to Bob during his illness.
