Ronald D. Neece, 67, of Greeneville, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital in Mountain Home, TN.
He was born on June 9, 1946, in Elizabethton, TN, a son of the late John H. and Norma Elliott Neece. He grew up in the Pinecrest Community of Johnson City and was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam Era.
Ron was a 1964 graduate of Happy Valley High School and continued his education at East Tennessee State University, where he obtained a Degree in Dental Technology. He retired from the Professional Dental Lab in Kingsport.
He enjoyed playing golf and was previously a member of Pine Oaks Golf Course. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge, in Greeneville, TN, and an avid U.T. sports fan.
Mr. Neece is survived by his wife, Marilyn Colyer Neece, of the home; a daughter, Leslie Hedges; three grandchildren, Laci and Lexi Hedges and Caleb Hughes, all of Johnson City; one brother, Steve Neece, of Murfreesboro; one nephew, John D. Neece and his wife, Amanda, also of Murfreesboro; an aunt, Ann Robinson, of Elizabethton; an uncle and aunt, Elwood and Jane Neece, Lillian, AL; his mother-in-law, Emedine Colyer, sister-in-law and her husband, Gwen and David Rader, and brother-in-law and his wife, Roger and Ellen Colyer, all of Greeneville.
The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Neece will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Jim Fain officiating. Music will be under the direction of Beth Hearn, soloist, and Jon Shell, bagpiper.
The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 3:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday prior to the service.
The Committal service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, in the Chapel of the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park, with interment to follow. Active pallbearers will be Charles Jones, Meldon Randolph, Jim Randolph, Chris Hedges, Willie McLain, John D. Neece and Jeff Neece. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred and Carol Goodwin, Faye Colyer, Ronnie and June Colyer, Henry and Chrissy Gaby, Aaron and Angie Colyer, Spencer Rader and Tommy Fields. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 PM to go in procession to the cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard.
