Ruth Phillips, age 86, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, following a brief illness. Ruth was born in Unicoi County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Bishop “Shy” Little and Jeanette Ledford Little. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Willie Little Tipton and Dorothy Little Simerly.

Mrs. Phillips retired as a secretary at Mays Brothers Tool Company and was a member of Fellowship Community Church. She liked to sew.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Dean Phillips, of the home; one brother, John A. Little, of Johnson City; four sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor the life of Mrs. Ruth Phillips will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2015 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Ken Houser, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rick Sweeney. The family will receive friends from NOON until 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday.

The committal and entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Deloach and Roscoe Gentry.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 6th Floor Nursing Staff of the Johnson City Medical Center for the love and care extended to Mrs. Phillips during her illness. Also, a special thanks to all of her loving and caring friends.
