Selda Arnold Wilson, age 96, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord and those who had passed before her on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 from Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Selda was born in Carter County to the late David P. Ellis and Minnie Bullock Ellis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Arnold; her second husband, Frank Wilson; a daughter, Linda Farmer; and four sisters, Florence Ellis, Mable Birchfield, Juanita White and Ida Andes.

Selda was a homemaker and was of the Christian faith. She was a loving, kind and caring woman, affectionately known as “the little candy lady”. Selda loved shopping, mowing her yard, keeping house, caring for her rose bushes, going to church – she often said “there’s no place I’d rather be” referring to her love of attending church.

Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Gail Pierce and husband Ronnie, of Piney Flats, Jean Bowers and husband Buddy, of Elizabethton and Lois Myers and husband Wesley, also of Elizabethton; a sister, Gladys Hicks, of Bluff City; and ten grandchildren. Several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

A service to honor the life of Selda Arnold Wilson will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 23, 2020 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Ken Overdorf, Pastor Gerald Holly and Pastor Nathan Jennings, officiating. Gerald and Gloria Holly, Bobby McGee and Letha Grindstaff will provide music. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday.

The graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Craig Layfield saying prayer. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Pierce, Wesley Myers, Buddy Bowers, David Farmer, Joel Williams, Todd Grindstaff and Jeff Hyder. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Tetrick and the staff of Tetrick Funeral Home, members of Sims Hill Christian Church, Gap Creek Christian Church, James Carroll, Bud Farmer and other friends and neighbors.

The family would like to thank the staff, doctors and nurses of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the love and care given to Selda during her stay there.
