Shelton Jordan Thompson, age 81, of Erwin passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Thompson was born in Washington County, TN on May 2, 1933, a son of the late Hughes M. and Addie Biggs Thompson. He was a member of First Christian Church of Erwin, where he was a member of the Friends Sunday School Class and served as an elder.
He was also a member of the Erwin Kiwanis, the Tennessee Eastman Hiking Club, and the Old Timers Hiking Club. He was a member of the former Jaycee’s and the former Circle Left Square Dance Club. He retired in 1994 from Nuclear Fuel Services as Nuclear Lab Manager. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Shelton Thompson has left behind to cherish his memory: Wife: Gail Thompson of Erwin, Sons: Dr. Dana Thompson and wife Beth of Brentwood, TN, Mark Thompson and wife Kristine of Reston, VA, Daughter: Sharon Kegley and husband Bryan of Kingsport, TN, Step Children: Mary Gail Manes and husband Dave of White, GA, Paul Jones and wife Janet of Louisville, TN, Brother: Hugh Thompson and wife Marilyn of Johnson City, TN Eight Grandchildren: Sean Manes, Will Thompson, Holley Kegley, Daniel Thompson, Wes Thompson, Ben Thompson, Griffin Kegley and Annika Thompson.
The family requests the honor of your presence as we honor and remember the life of Shelton Thompson in a service to be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at 7:00 P.M. at First Christian Church of Erwin with Dr. Todd Edmondson and Dr. William Gwaltney officiating. A time of visitation to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00PM and continue until service time on Tuesday at First Christian Church. The family will attend a private graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial donations be made to the Shelton Thompson Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Hopwood Memorial Christian, P. O. Box 149, Milligan College, TN 37682.
