Shirley Ann Harmon Franklin, 68, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord Thursday, December 11, 2014, at her residence.
She was an Avery County, North Carolina, native and had lived in Carter County for several years. She was a Homemaker.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father: John W. Harmon.
She was a member of the Newland Church of Jesus Christ, Newland, North Carolina, but had attended the Valley Forge Christian Church for several years.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years: Thomas E. Franklin; One Daughter: Teresa Ann Lawson and husband, Jerry, Elizabethton; One Son: Timothy E. Franklin, Blountville, Tenn.; One Grandson: Nathanyal Lawson, Elizabethton; Her Mother: Florence Odom Harmon, Newland, NC; One Sister: Pricilla Letterman and husband, Dwayne, Elizabethton; Two Brothers: Dale Harmon and wife, Sherry, Elizabethton, and Bobby Harmon, Newland, North Carolina;. Very special friends that Shirley adopted: Miranda Bishop and Debra Briggs.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. David Siebenaler, minister, Pastor Ed Davis and Pastor David Adkins.
Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Mr. Joel Crisp. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to all the people that took the time to bring food and visit during her illness, especially the Valley Forge Christian Church family and to Amedisys Hospice for the wonderful care Shirley received.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the service hour on Saturday. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence.
