Shirley Louise Williams, 77, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, January 26, 2014, at her residence following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late James & Lucille Shaw Ritchie. Shirley was a 1954 graduate of Hampton High School. She was a retired employee of American Air Filter. She was a member of the Unaka Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Herbert Ritchie.
Shirley loved to play games, work puzzles and spend time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years: James “Jim” Williams; A Son & Daughter-in-law: James “Jimmy” & Jackie Williams, Johnson City; Five Grandchildren: J.D. Williams and wife, Tracy, Drew Williams and wife, Crystal, Grant Meyer and his wife, Ariana, Kyle Zimmerman and Austin Zimmerman; Two Great Granddaughters: Sadie Williams and Emilia Meyer; One Great Grandson: Jeramiah Thomas; One Sister: Blannie Sams, of Texas; Several nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Sherrill Dunn and Rev. Walker Roberson officiating.
Graveside Service and Interment will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Rev. Sherrill Dunn. Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Nephews. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Earl Campbell, Don & Jack Williams, Dr. J. & Staff.
The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Mountain States Regional Oncology group, Dr. J & Whitney and Mountain States Hospice.
To those who prefer memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Williams to the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 776, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37644; or the American Cancer Society, ? Lou Cooter, 415 Washington Avenue, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
