Sue Calloway Hyder, 77, Johnson City went to be with her Lord  Sunday February 9, 2020 in the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness.  A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Dallas and  Mosella Pierce Calloway.  She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School.  Sue was a certified Dental Assistant.  She had served as a substitute teacher, having taught at several schools .  She also had worked in the Carter County Trustee Office.  She was a member of the Watauga Point United Methodist Church.  Her hobby was her family.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Hyder.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years: Carmon “Ray”  Hyder.  Three Children: Timothy Wayne Hyder (Lisa Hatcher), Carmon Alecia (Roland) Banks and Christopher Lee (Beth) Hyder. A daughter-in-law: Kim Hyder.  Her brother: Dallas “Butch” (Lou) Calloway.   Ten Grandchildren: Lacey Whaley, Lindsay (Jordan) Vance, Lauren Hyder, Kelly (Frankie) Casteel, Josh Hyder, Caleb Hyder,  Katie Hyder, Sam Hyder, Sophia Hyder and Roland Banks, Jr.  Three Great grandchildren: Kaden Casteel, Owen Casteel and Jamie Whaley.  Several nieces, nephews & cousins.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lou Crandell and Rev. Mike Berry officiating.  Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2020 in Happy Valley Memorial Park.  Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Thursday will be: Caleb Hyder, Sam Hyder, Josh Hyder, Gary Jenkins, Tommy Jenkins, David Jenkins, Frankie Casteel and Jordan Vance.  Honorary Pallbearers will be: Harold  Carver, Danny Carver, Anthony Avery, Raymond Millsaps, Marvin Watson, Chet Badgett, Lester Brumit, Travis Brumit, Charles & Theresa Phipps and her church family.  The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the 7400 Wing, 2700 Wing and 2800 Wing Johnson City Medical Center for the care she received.  Friends may also visit with the family at her residence.  The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.  Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
