Susan Beth Febuary, age 60, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following a brief illness. Susan was a native of Carter County and was a daughter of the late Frank and Betty Morgan Kelley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Harry and Virginia Morgan; her paternal grandparents, Gale and Yula Kelley; her maternal great grandmother, Esther Combs; and a sister-in-law, Gail Kelley.

Susan graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1973 before graduating from ETSU, and then went on to earn her Master’s Degree from Tusculum College. She retired as an educator from the Carter County School System and had also taught the Pre-School Class at First United Methodist Church. She was a member of Southside Christian Church and served on the Food Committee. She enjoyed working at the church and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Leonard Febuary, of the home; her son, Matt Febuary, also of the home, and his friend, Danielle Watts, of Elizabethton; a sister, Jennifer Kennedy and husband Parkis, of Bristol, VA; a brother, Randy Kelley, of Sylvania, GA; one niece, Amy Kelley, of Johnson City; two nephews, David and Joseph Kennedy, both of Bristol, VA; and one sister-in-law, Martha Roberts, of Johnson City.

A service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Susan Beth Febuary will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 17, 2015 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Mike Koruschak and Mr. John Smith, ministers, officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Friday; or at the residence at any time.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Kenny Carter, Richard Barker, Joe Alexander, Greg Bowers, Jerry Franklin, Tim Broyles, Jim Holdren, Charlie Hayes, Jimmy Oxendine, Parkis Kennedy, David Shields, and Maurice Shell. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Gouge, Jack Hensley, Tyler Fleming, Jeff Reed, Jarrod Ellis, members of the Salt & Pepper Class of Southside Christian Church, and neighbors of Parkway Boulevard and Jordan Road. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton at 10:15 AM on Saturday, to go in procession.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Home Health Care and the staff and nurses of ICU, the 3rd Floor at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, and Dr. Jonathan Bremer and staff for the love and care shown to Susan and her family during her illness.
