Tommy Gerald Edwards, 84, Elizabethton passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Stewart & Faye Collins Edwards. In earlier years he was employed as a mechanist at the Raytheon Corporation and retired as an over the road truck driver with Richard Diehl… In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Ted & Robert Gene Edwards. Tommy was a member of the Siam Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years: Earlene Bales Edwards. Four Children: Michael & wife Teresa Edwards, Lexington, South Carolina, Gary & wife Sharon Edwards, Linda & husband Rick Arnold and Lois Hylton all of Elizabethton. 6 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, One Aunt: Milon Herman. Several nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jack Roddy and Rev. Ricky Lack officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018 in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Mr. Bill Anderson. Active Pallbearers will be: Chris Edwards, Jason Hylton, Neyland Sluder, Colby Garland, Timmy Garland, Steve Alexander, John Harmon and David Helton. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at his residence. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of 2500 wing, Johnson City medical Center for the excellent care he received. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Tommy to the Building Fund, Siam Baptist Church, and 2414 Siam Road, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643.
