Toney Mack Vines, age 67, of Hampton, went home to be with the Lord following an extended illness on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Hermitage Health Center. He was a son of the late Dewey Vines and Virtie Stines Whaley and was born in Carter County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Ann Green Vines; a great-grandson, Grayson Anderson; two brothers and one sister. Toney worked at North American Rayon Corporation over thirty years and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing and watching his grandsons play basketball.
Those left to cherish his memory include one son, Anthony Vines of Johnson City; three daughters, Jeannie Street and husband, Tony of Roan Mountain, Kimberly Tucker and husband, Jonathan of Johnson City, Alena Bentley and husband James of Hampton; three brothers, Danny Vines of Jonesborough, Bob Vines and Gilbert Vines, both of Elizabethton; one sister, Vicki Snyder of Johnson City; his girlfriend, Joan Ramsey of Elizabethton; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to honor the life of Toney Mack Vines will be conducted at 7 PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor James Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Tuesday prior to the funeral service in the chapel and at the home of a daughter, Kimberly Tucker.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Tucker, Tony Street, James Bentley, Tyler Street, Jordan Bentley, Bob Vines, Danny Vines and Gilbert Vines. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Carden, Scott Carden, Austin Bentley and Chris Bentley. Everyone will meet at 10:15 AM on Wednesday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Joan Ramsey whom they truly appreciate all she has done and feel they couldn’t have done it without her. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Vivian Clark and staff and the nurses and staff of Hermitage Health Center for the love and care shown to Toney during his illness.
