Tony Jack Hyder, 72 of Elizabethton went home to be with our Loving Lord, Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Johnson City Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Vance and Ethel (Jenkins) Hyder. Also his Father and Mother-in-law the late Evant H. and Ruth Peters. He was a member of Westside Christian Church and loved his church family.
Mr. Hyder was an avid salesman who enjoyed meeting new people. He never met a stranger and warmly welcomed anyone into his home. Mr. Hyder was a UT enthusiast and loved watching his grandkids play sports. He was a member of the 1961 graduating class of Happy Valley High School.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda (Peters) Hyder of the home: Three daughters; Katrina and husband John Hopson, Debbie and husband Jerry Hodges, Tabitha and husband Brent Blackwell, all of Elizabethton; Six Grandchildren include; Blake and wife Carrie Hopson, Jordan Hodges, Jaycee Hopson, Hunter Hodges, Colbie Hopson and Cole Blackwell. Brothers; Norman Bud and wife Jeane Hyder of Elizabethton and Carmen Ray and wife Sue Hyder of Johnson City; a Sister Nancy Diane Elliott of Elizabethton; a Special Brother and Sister-in-law, Ted and Janice Hamilton of Johnson City. Several Aunts, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. in the Westside Christian Church, on Saturday, April 11, 2015, officiated by Dr. Greg Key and Todd Burleson. Music will be provided by Sandy White. The Graveside Service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers include: Blake Hopson, Jordan Hodges, Hunter Hodges, Cole Blackwell, Jimmy Hamilton, Pat Hyder, Tim Hyder, Chris Hyder, Michael Adams and Andy Hyder. Honorary Pallbearers include: John Hopson, Jerry Hodges, Brent Blackwell, Ted Hamilton, Bobby Elliott, Joseph Oliver, Carroll Lowe, Andrew Byers, Travis Brummit, Xavier Oliver, Colton Elliott, Elders and Deacons of Westside Christian Church and the Christian Homebuilders Sunday School Class. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Westside Christian Church Heating and Air Fund in memory of Tony. The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Dr. Greg Key, our loving and caring minister and his wife Mary Anne.
