Umbertina (Betty) Fiorucci Hicks, age 88, passed away in Jacksonville, FL on April 27, 2018 at the home of her son, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 31, 1930 in Courcet-Beringen, Belgium to Emilio and Katherine Quint Fiorucci.
Betty, as she was known to her friends, came to the United States in 1946 and was proud to have studied and gained her US citizenship in 1956. She retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital (Mountain Home) in Johnson City with over 30 years of service in the nursing field.
Umbertina was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred Hicks, her brother, Emile Fiorucci, and her granddaughter, Pamela Kim Lawson.
She is survived by her daughter, Loise Trivette (Mark Hall), St Augustine, FL; her sons: Johnnie Trivette (Danet), Bethany, OK, and Tommy Trivette (Ella Jean), Jacksonville, FL; she is also survived by her sister: Lea Biron, Liege, Belgium; and Rita Fiorucci, Vaux-et-Borset, Belgium; and her nephew Thierry Biron, Sprimont, Belgium, grandchildren: Nathan Trivette (Kathleen), Randy Lawson, Cherie Lawson, Kristina Boudreau (Brian), and Marcella Parker (Steve); three great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-grandchildren..
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your favorite charity.
Betty’s family will greet friends to share memories on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton followed by a Catholic Prayer Service. A Graveside and Committal Service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
