Venie Hardin Carr, 92, of Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014, at her residence following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Rosa Richardson Hardin.
Mrs. Carr was a homemaker. She was a member of C Street Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Carr, March 16, 1992; a son, James A. Carr; her step-father, John Clemons; two infant sons; and two brothers, R.J. Clemons and Tom Clemons.
Survivors include a son, William E. Carr, Kingsport; a daughter and son-in-law, Lydia and J.D. Stanley, Elizabethton; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Carr, Elizabethton; two sisters, Lena Hayes, Johnson City, and Helen Gass of Kentucky; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a
special friend, Melody Grindstaff.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carr will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, August 9, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Eddy Craft and Mr. Roby Ellis, ministers, officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.
