Vernell Johnson Tolley, 81, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at her residence. She was born January 29, 1941 in Butler to the late Dana & Polly Sheets Johnson. She was of the Holiness Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Tolley, by two sisters: Lucille Stines and Louella Dugger and a brother: David Sheets.
Survivors include Three Sisters: Betty Markland and husband Dana, Helen Ellison and Sarah Hartsook. Her Sister-in-Law: Wanda Hyder. Several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Melinda Pritchard and a special nephew: Kevin Markland. Her two furry buddies, Rhudy and Bear.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2022 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Carl Grindstaff officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Peace, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Lacey Maines and Donna Shepherd. Active Pallbearers will be: Kevin Markland, Chris Markland, Nicholas Markland, Katie Markland, Lucas Greenwell, William Conwell and Doc Maines. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the Staff of Amedisys Hospice, including Megan Renfro, niece ,Lacey Maines and niece, Brenda Millsaps.
