Vernon Lyons, age 85, of Plantation, Florida, formerly of Elizabethton passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Westside Regional Medical Center in Florida. Vernon was born on April 18, 1931 in Elizabethton, TN to the late Robert and Annie Lyons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 57 years, Clara Mae Lyons.
Those left to cherish his memory include second wife, Janet Lyons, of Plantation, Florida; his and Clara’s children: Raymond Lyons and wife Nancy, Richard Lyons and wife Cindy; grandchildren with Clara: Kerri Lyons, Jonathan Lyons, Christopher Lyons, Melissa Mangin and husband Andrew Mangin, Vanessa Lago and Matthew Lago; and their great grandchildren: Hailey Mangin and Colton Mangin; Janet’s children: Jonathan Doherty and wife Norine, Daniel Doherty and wife Kimm, and Sharon Doherty; Janet’s grandchildren: Nick Doherty, Alex Doherty, Dylan Doherty, Easton Doherty and Belle Doherty. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Vernon Lyons will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Rev. Jerry Honeycutt, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Saturday.
The graveside service will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
