Vivian J. True, age 98, of Elizabethton, died on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Hillview Health Center following a brief illness. Mrs. True was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana to the late Samuel and Blanche Davis Rauth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy G. True in 1980; and two brothers. Mrs. True had worked as a beautician, a bookkeeper for a school cafeteria, and with her husband, had owned and operated a restaurant in Indianapolis. She was a member of the Downtown Christian Church in Johnson City and loved her church family. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Gastineau and husband, Dr. Jerry Gastineau, of Elizabethton, TN; a son, Richard True and wife Sheila of Anderson, Indiana; five grandchildren, Kristin Gastineau, Nashville, TN, Denise Halkos and husband Matthew, Atlanta,GA, Susan Kane and husband John, Pendleton, Indiana, Rebecca Hopper and husband Jim, Plainfield, Indiana, and Andy True and wife Annette, Kingsport, TN; nine great grandchildren; and two nieces. The family requests the comfort and honor of your presence at the Celebration of the Life of Mrs. True on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Mr. Greg Key, Minister and Dr. Robert Wetzel, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mary Lou O’Quinn. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior the service on Tuesday. The committal and entombment service will follow in the Mausoleum of Hope at Happy Valley Memorial Park. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Robert Walter and the staff at Hillview Health Center, for the exceptional care and love shown to Mrs. True during her illness.
