Wesley Steven Holtsclaw, age 47, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was a son of Luther Taylor of Elizabethton and Patsy Pritchard Rash of Johnson City and was born in Carter County. He was preceded in death by a half-brother Tommy Taylor.

Mr. Holtsclaw was a contractor and was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed coaching both football and basketball. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and riding his motorcycle.

Those left to cherish his memory in addition to his parents include his adopted father, Wesley Holtsclaw and his wife, Rita of Elizabethton, TN; his wife of 22 years, Tamara Wright Holtsclaw of the home; three sons, Josh Wright and his wife, Christy of Chattanooga, TN, Terry Woodcock of Knoxville, TN, and Stephen Holtsclaw of San Antonio, TX; two grandchildren, Avery Wright and Brantley Wright, both of Chattanooga, TN; four brothers, Ronnie Holtsclaw of Elizabethton, TN, Gary Holtsclaw of Watauga, TN, Allen Holtsclaw of Gray, TN, and Dwayne Holtsclaw of Crossnore, NC; one sister, Tammy Taylor of Johnson City, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

A service to honor the life of Wesley Steven Holtsclaw will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Friday, April 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Don Holt, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM prior to the service in the chapel on Friday or at the residence at other times.

The graveside service and inurnment will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Poore and Curtis Holtsclaw. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 1:50 PM on Sunday.
